Term Project Milestone 2

Brief Overview:

This week, our group met online to discuss and expand upon the final idea we discussed and agreed upon earlier in the week. The purpose of this meeting was to determine the specifics of this idea and discuss what features and requirements we want to include in the experience. To get all our ideas down and documented, we used our Miro board. We also determined each member’s roles within the project.

Our ideas for the VR art gallery is to feature the five brainwaves that reflect the activities of the human brain. We want to create environments within the gallery that showcase each brainwave musically and visually. For example, the theta or alpha brainwave can have users in an open field, laying down and gazing at the stars.

The five brainwaves:

During this brainstorm session, we discussed and wrote down how we can make our brainwave art gallery interactive, have social aspects, promote discussion, be accessible, and enhance teaching and learning. We also wrote down technical, design, and interaction features that we must have, should have, could be nice to have, and will not have. We also started on creating a mood board and flow chart for the experience.

Creation of next week's sprint in full detail
During the following week, we plan on:
  • Getting approval for our idea for the art gallery
  • Asking questions about the proposal and project
  • Completing a mood board for the visuals and vibes of our VR art gallery (inspiration/images from games, art, etc)
  • Starting to work on the proposal and presentation after discussing our idea during stand-up
    • Dividing the work for both assignments (due in two weeks on February 14th)
  • Having a definite list of technical, design, and interaction features to include

Challenges:

We have a main idea and plan for our term project, but since we haven’t had a stand-up meeting with our professor, it was hard to determine the scope of the project and how to include certain parts specified in the proposal. We have a few questions surrounding the vision of the project before we start creating concepts, wireframes, and flow maps.

Successes:

One of our group members (Amina), came up with an idea and pitched it to the group through text. The rest of us really liked her idea and agreed that it should be what we do for the project. During our meeting, we were able to flesh out this idea and focus on strengthening and expanding upon the idea.

Number of hours spent on the project:

One hour and 30 minutes was spent.
